Todays Washington Post reports that Mr. President Obama is ready to cave and junk trial by a civilian court and jury for military tribunals, for the 911 defendants. Some folks are saying so what?  Aren't we are talking about giving justice to confessed terrorists?

We are talking about American justice, and some people, I shall call them out,  they are for the most part right-wing nuts and Repub politicians. They are playing on people's fears  to score political points against the Administration. To try a rascal like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a civilian court is not being soft on terrorism. It is standing firm for American justice. To think that somehow American courts and juries aren't smart enough to deal with the likes of  Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is a slander upon Americans and on America.

If the 911 defendants can't be tried in New York City for security reasons,  then try them on an American military base, with a civilian judge and civilian juries. In the final analysis, trials are not just about the defendants, they are about  America.  And turning to military tribunal is showing no faith in the American public's ability to do the right thing.
