Why would anyone, aside from a health insurance worker or a GOP politician on the payroll of the Healthcare Insurance companies want to keep our system? It makes no sense. The very people who are always the first to stand behind “Socialized” police, and “Socialized” firemen are, right now, the same people who are opposing healthcare reform. The motivations do not lie with the people they are supposed to serve, for most of these men, it lies in the hands of billionaires in the health insurance world. When you see someone speak out against healthcare reform, ask yourself why. We rank near the bottom among all industrialized nations on Earth, well below the dreaded French, and we pay the most for it too, according the World Health Organization. What happened to American pride and patriotism? I thought it was the GOP’s cornerstone. They should want reform on that alone.
Imagine if police and fire were privatized: you would have to make decisions on whether you wanted a crime stopped based on the price, “Well, it is only a $100 stereo”. Or try and decide if you want to fight a fire by yourself or whether it’s time to pay the pros to put it out.
Perhaps “Fire insurance” should cover the firemen’s salaries too, let’s see how the insurance companies like that idea: “Let’s see, that’s $16,000 per fireman, a $12,000 truck fee, and the Captain had to come, that’s another $20,000”. Or maybe “Police Insurance” in case you get robbed or murdered and want assistance with that. Maybe you would get declined because of the pre-existing condition of your crappy neighborhood.
Or how about those “socialized” roads we drive on everyday? If the core of the system is available for everyone, it benefits society in so many ways. First off, people who get regular check-ups at $100 a shot are way healthier and cost significantly less on average than people who end up in the emergency room with some untreated disease that has progressed far enough that they require a team of doctors and 24-hour care. Prevention is the best medicine and people who are afraid of bills delay treatment and end up on your tab anyway. Everyone in the United States should be working on changing this sad program, anyone who drags their feet or has nothing to offer but derision is a traitor. The Health Insurance industry, injecting itself and sucking out money, is an illness our healthcare system needs to operate on immediately.
