This morning at a press conference, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, the progressive Democrat from Ohio, announced that he will switch his vote on the Health Care bill to a vote of "yes," despite his reservations. He became the first Democrat, who voted "No" the first time around in the House, to announce that he will be changing his vote, saying that his vote may be the "deciding vote,"
"I know I have to make a decision not on the bill as I would like to see it, but on the bill as it is," Congressman Kucinich said. He had been on the receiving end of well publicized arm twisting by President Obama. He said, "I have doubts about this bill. This is not the bill I wanted to support. However, after careful discussions with President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, my wife Elisabeth, and close friends, I have decided to cast a vote in favor of the legislation." Well, I wonder if he consulted his principles. Any way, he announced, "If my vote is to be counted, let it count now." (News Sources: The Washington Post, ABC News)
With, the usually very principled and sure-footed, Dennis Kucinich announced support, the awful Senate Bill before the House, may well be on its way to becoming law.
