Sarah Palin Should Step Out of the Limelight

Sarah PalinSarah PalinWe shouldn’t be surprised that Sarah Palin is possibly using cheat sheets, is misinterpreting the whole basic idea of tea parties, and is potentially considering a run for president. The reality of the situation is that IQ unfortunately is not a pre-requisite for elected office, even at the higher levels.

For some reason, the presidents most known for having lower IQs tend to be Republicans, which I think may be more than a coincidence. Neither father nor son Bush was all that smart, and Ronald Reagan was definitely not known for his brainiac tendencies.

Why are Republicans so scared of having a president who is smarter than the average American?

One of my biggest complaints when “W” was president was the fact that I truly didn’t believe that he was smarter than I was. Regardless of political affiliation, I don’t want Homer Simpson or his female counterpart representing me as president of the country. I prefer to have a real elected official running the country rather than  a secretive, behind- the-curtain Karl Rove-type mastermind.

A good portion of the country seems to disagree with this notion as evidenced by the tea-baggers and their likes. Of course, most of them have probably never heard of Karl Rove, the neo-cons or the real reasons that we got involved in Iraq in the first place.

I think that women like Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann undermine the capable women in office by playing up their sexuality instead of focusing on getting real results. I am also totally disgusted by Sarah Palin’s use of her family as evidence of being a person with true family values. I am sorry to tell you, Sarah, but your son Trig is a special needs child and not something that should be put forefront and center as evidence of your ability to govern.

I have no problem with the fact that Sarah Palin was a beauty pageant queen, as I don’t think there is anything in the constitution that disqualifies her on that basis alone, but I do take issue with her representing herself as a person who is for the "real people". From my understanding, there are 30 million "real people" in this country who need health care. Where are Sarah Palin and the Republican party when those 30 million Americans get sick?

I also have a problem with her lies, exaggerations, and manipulation. In my eyes, she is little more than an over-aged cheerleader for the interests of oil, power, and her own vanity in disguise as someone who cares about the American people.
