Sarah and Michele: Two Pittbulls with Lipstick
The New Republican Heroes?I’ve seen Sarah Palin’s influence on television and it wore the face of Michele Bachmann. Have you heard this woman talk? Like Sarah Palin, she appears to be a normal sort of person until she opens her mouth. The first time I saw her, she was being interviewed about her election campaign for congress. That’s when she so rightly remarked that Congress should be investigated for having an Anti-American bias.
In April, Rep. Bachmann became the founder of what could possibly become the nation’s first Swine Flu Truther movement when she observed, "I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter. And I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence." Another amazing coincidence was that the terrorist attack in the United States happened under George Bush’s watch, but she didn’t happen to mention that.
Recently, Michele Bachmann misunderstood the meaning of the term reserve currency and publicly worried that Obama was abandoning the dollar for a multi-national currency. Perhaps she thought we might go into cahoots with Canadia, our nefarious neighbors to the north.
Last summer, she jumped onto Sarah Palin’s “Death Camp” bandwagon that seems to have riled up the Fox-news watchers in our country. Hmmmm, let’s remind the Jewish Americans of the Holocaust, call our black president a Nazi, and kill off the chance for 30 million Americans to get decent health care in one full swoop. Kudos to both Sarah and Michele for that 3 in 1 score. I bet that between the two of them they could probably kill three moose(s) with one bullet, too.
While it's easy to make light of her stupidity, rhetoric like this is damaging our society. Like Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann is literally a pitbull with lipstick and proud of it. She is not trying to reach out to thinking American people who might have real differences with the Obama administration, but is instead utilizing the fear tactics that worked so well for the Bush administration. To people who don’t watch Fox News, she is ridiculous, but to the people who are already fearful of having a black man in the white house, she is a hero.
To the whole of America, she is a threat as she incites violence. If we really start to investigate Congress for being Anti-American, I would hope that Michele Bachmann would stand first in line.
