From press reports, California Democratic activists are faulting Jerry. Brown for not campaigning enough, and for allowing the dribble of Meg Whitman, who has spent her way to the top of the polls, to go unchallenged. Maybe, Mr. Brown should borrow a page from Hillary Clinton's old campaign book and go on a listening tour of the state. Let the people see and hear from him, as he listens to their concerns.
In a move that must be designed --if inadvertently -- to help the GOP and its leading candidate in the California GOP primary for governor, Meg, Ms. Money bags, spend like you're buying a governor's chair on Ebay, Whitman, iliberal activist, a founder of MoveOn.org, Peter Schurman says, he will challenge Jerry Brown for the Democratic nomination for governor. Why? According to press accounts, Mr.Schurman says that Mr.Brown "isn’t being bold enough." Well what bold things would Mr. Peter Schurman promised to do? He would raise taxes during the recovery from a recession. He would talk tough about forcing corporations and the rich to pay more taxes. He sounds like an awful like a tax raising kook. Maybe he is trying to bait Mr. Brown into making kooky statements?
Jerry Brown is the best chance that progressives have of winning the California governor's seat, which is important at any time, but is very important in a census year.
