Obama takes his time deciding what America will do...Obama takes his time deciding what America will do...There are 65,000 U.S. troops currently in Afghanistan and President Obama is taking his time considering whether to send all or part of the 40,000 recommended/ requested by General Stanley McChrystal. Cheney says Obama is dithering (Does what Cheney thinks still matter?) It’s the first real decision that Obama is going to make in his role as Commander In Chief.

It brings up a few questions, all of political significance:

  • 5 Myths About Health Care Reform

    Health Care ReformHealth Care Reform

Time Magazine recently had an article breaking down the numbers of the uninsured in the United States. Not surprisingly, the statistics about the uninsured are different than what the tea-bagging Republicans in the media are proclaiming. Basically, the American public is being lied to by the same villains who brought us the Iraq war. We can’t let them win.

The TV show Myth-busters should leave science alone for a minute and start to focus on the real problems in the United States. The myths do no just relate to the uninsured, but to the actual costs of public health care.

  • Americans Need to Live Within Our Means? What Does That Mean?

IMF Managing Director (L) and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner (R)IMF Managing Director (L) and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner (R)Tim Geithner is talking about America learning to live within its means once the economy recovers- but, won’t the economy only truly recover once people start investing again? And doesn’t investment inherently mean creating money where it wasn’t before- as in, getting things to grow- as in, getting your money to work beyond its means?

The New Republican Heroes? The New Republican Heroes?I’ve seen Sarah Palin’s influence on television and it wore the face of Michele Bachmann. Have you heard this woman talk? Like Sarah Palin, she appears to be a normal sort of person until she opens her mouth. The first time I saw her, she was being interviewed about her election campaign for congress. That’s when she so rightly remarked that Congress should be investigated for having an Anti-American bias.

  • Healthcare Bill Cost Cut 15%

    Add Comment

Now We Need to VoteNow We Need to VoteAre we still talking about the Healthcare bill? Yes, we emphatically are. And now we are talking cost, because that is where the decisions are made in the end, whether things go forward or die in committees before they can make it to the floor for votes.

What was just months ago blasted as certain to cost over $1 Trillion is now being billed at an estimated $829 Billion and would cut the federal deficit by $81 Billion over 10 years. Well, let’s do it then! That’s some pretty fantastic news on the cost front- an over 15% reduction? I’m starting to think that Obama played the politics out right on this one- let everybody complain and protest during the break and come back with rebuttals and a cheaper plan- nice.

    T. Boone PickensT. Boone PickensHave you heard of T. Boone Pickens? The man who made billions in oil in Texas? Friend and supporter of George W. Bush? The man who funded the infamous Swift Boat TV commercials that played their role in bringing down John Kerry’s bid for the presidency in 2004? The man who is heavily invested in nuclear gas and… wind power? If you haven’t heard of him yet, you may just hear of him a lot in the future- and you may have heard of some of his friends.

“He’s a legendary entrepreneur,” President Obama said. “One of the things that I think we have to unify the country around is having an intelligent energy policy.”

World Currency...World Currency...The G7 told China this weekend to strengthen the yuan, a suggestion that China is not all that excited about.

The G7 holds a series of meetings between the finance ministers from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, the United States and Canada – (Canada?). So of course one issue is that China isn’t in the G7, so why should they listen to their recommendation, right? Maybe invite them to join the group and they may be more receptive to suggestions you make guys- hell, they may even help you make the suggestion.
